Media converter

Image, audio, video — in your browser

This converter turns your images (png, jpg, webp, gif), audio files (mp3, wav, ogg, m4a, flac) and videos (mp4, webm, gif) from one format into another, and can also extract the audio track from a video to mp3, m4a or wav. Handy to shrink a clip, grab the music from a video, convert a voice recording to a more universal format or prepare an animated image. Pick the file, the output format, and grab the result to download.

By default, conversion happens entirely in your browser thanks to an ffmpeg engine compiled to WebAssembly: your file never leaves your device, no tracking, no ads. For large files, or if your browser lacks the needed encoder, the tool offers — with your explicit consent — to run the conversion on our server; in that case, and only then, the file is uploaded and sent back converted.

FAQ

Is my file sent to a server?
Not by default: conversion runs in your browser and the file never leaves your device. The file is only uploaded if you explicitly choose server-side conversion (offered for large files or when an encoder is missing).
Which formats are supported?
Image: png, jpg, webp, gif. Audio: mp3, wav, ogg, m4a, flac. Video: mp4, webm, gif. You can also extract a video's audio to mp3, m4a or wav.
Why is the first conversion slower?
On the first click, the conversion engine (a few megabytes) is downloaded and initialised in the browser. Later conversions reuse it and are much faster.
Why does a conversion sometimes fall back to the server?
The in-browser engine has a limited set of encoders. If an output format is not available locally, or the file is too large, the tool offers server conversion — which only starts with your consent.
